After mastering the basics of aerial photography, we sought to expand beyond school or indoor settings. In the summer of 2018, we led a group of students from the Catholic English Secondary School in Cheung Sha Wan, who were passionate about photography, to various locations in Hong Kong such as Tai O and Peng Chau. We encouraged students to venture outdoors after becoming proficient in basic drone operations, exploring diverse landscapes and environments to capture unique visuals and scenes. During the training, students tried shooting ocean views, mountain landscapes, and broader cityscapes, experiencing a fresh perspective.
Our instructors provided hands-on guidance throughout the process, offering professional shooting techniques and advice to ensure students could capture satisfactory footage outdoors, leaving them with ample material for post-editing.
In addition to aerial photography, the course also included ground photography. Students learned how to use professional cameras and stabilizers outdoors, enriching their work environments to enhance the overall quality of their productions.
Once all filming was completed, students practiced video editing, adding soundtracks, adjustments, and programming to transform the footage into finished pieces. The final products from their training were used as promotional videos for the school's drone club, showcasing the students' learning outcomes and creativity while promoting the club within the school—an opportunity to attract interested peers to join.
We offer customized outdoor drone training to help students achieve desired results. Outdoor drone training not only allows students to refine their drone skills in practice but also grants them greater autonomy, fostering teamwork and creative expression. This lays a strong foundation for future photography and video creation endeavors.
