Event Review: Tello+ Neo Trial Class at the Hong Kong East Elderly Centre, Hong Kong Society for the Aged
In July, we successfully held two drone experience workshops at the Hong Kong Society for the Aged Hong Kong Island East Elderly Centre, bringing a brand new technological experience to two different groups of seniors and allowing them to experience the joy of drone control firsthand.
Workshop Content
The workshop carefully designed an experiential section that combines theory with practice:
Introduction to drone technology and applications : Introducing modern drone technology and its wide application in society to the elderly
Safe Operation and Regulatory Awareness : Detailed explanation of Hong Kong drone regulations to ensure that the elderly understand how to safely operate drones in indoor environments

Let seniors experience the joy of manually controlling a drone with DJI Tello Talent
Using DJI Neo with motion controller and FPV glasses provides an immersive flying experience
We have designed several simple challenge levels suitable for the elderly, guiding them to master the control skills step by step.
Event Highlights
Our team of professional instructors carefully prepared hands-on training with the DJI Tello and DJI Neo drones, and tailored activities to the seniors' abilities. The seniors not only learned about the basic structure, components, and sensors of drones, but also experienced the joy of flying them firsthand.
It is particularly worth mentioning that we have introduced a multi-disciplinary support team, including academic tutors and experienced social workers, to ensure that the elderly receive appropriate guidance and support in the learning process, creating a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
Activity Results
The workshop received enthusiastic responses from the seniors, who actively participated in various activities. Through hands-on experience, they not only overcame their fear of new technology but also experienced the joy of drone flight. The indoor flight environment ensured safety while allowing the seniors to fully enjoy the novelty of technology.
This workshop is not only a technological experience, but also an opportunity for intergenerational connection, allowing the elderly to step out of their comfort zone, come into contact with modern technology, and enrich their lives in their later years.
Future Outlook
Building on the success of this event, we plan to launch more technology-focused activities for seniors in the future, including more in-depth drone programming workshops, to give them the opportunity to further explore the wonders of technology and promote the popularization and application of age-friendly technology.
