Other Information

More about 3D Printing

3D printing is a rapid prototyping technology and a widely used fabrication tool that helps bring most design concepts to life. By utilizing advanced slicing programs and computer-aided design (CAD), simple 3D FDM printers can construct a variety of complex structural models. Learning how to use 3D printing is only the first step.

Course Approach

During the course, instructors will guide participants to observe real-world needs or problems and apply the iterative product design method to develop feasible solutions. Participants can customize components based on specific requirements, such as creating 3D models as replacements or crafting alternative accessories. Through this course, participants will strengthen their observation, creativity, and problem-solving abilities while enhancing their understanding of engineering concepts.

Course Outline

  1. Product Design x 3D Printing Experience (Beginner Level)

    • Introduction to 3D printing technology, its applications across industries, and examples.

    • Encourage participants to think about how 3D design and printed products can be integrated into their lives.

    • Overview of basic product design steps.

    • Familiarization with essential Fusion360 functions (e.g., extrude/extrude cut, revolve, fillet/chamfer).

  2. Advanced 3D Printing Techniques (Intermediate Level)

    • Instruction on advanced principles and applications of 3D printing.
