Course Overview
The workshop will start with the basic theory of photography, explaining the use of aperture, shutter, ISO, WB, focal length, etc., as well as how to emphasize the characteristics of portraits through reasonable composition. Then it will enter the field shooting practice, the instructor will demonstrate how to use natural light or artificial light to highlight the portrait, and how to communicate with the model to get the best expression and posture. Finally, the instructor will guide students on how to use photo editing software for post-processing to further enhance the visual effect of the photo.
Course Content
Basic theory
This section will cover the basic theory of photography. We will discuss the application of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance (WB) and focal length. We will also teach students how to emphasize the characteristics of portraits by using composition techniques such as the Rule of Thirds, the Golden Triangle, the Golden Ratio and Leading Lines.
Assignment: Students will be asked to perform an exercise where they try photographing the same scene using different apertures, shutter speeds and ISOs and observe the differences in the results.
This is a practical shooting practice. The instructor will show you how to use natural or artificial light to highlight the portrait, and how to communicate with the model to get the best expression and pose.
Post-processing tutorial The instructor will teach students how to use photo editing software for post-processing to further enhance the visual effects of photos.
Assignment: Students will need to choose a photo they took on campus to post-process. Once completed, they will need to explain how they improved the visual quality of the photo.
Special Event Photography In this section, we will discuss how to photograph special events such as Parent Visit Day.
Assignment: At the next Parent Visit Day, students will be asked to take photos of parents and school staff and try to use natural or artificial light to highlight the subjects.
